ATLAS2024 ‘THIS IS US’
the Exhibition in the Global Village of the IAS AIDS 2024 conference.
Die Messe, Entrance West
10:30 – 18:00 (Excepted Monday 22 July Time 10:30 to 17:00)
ATLAS2024 ‘This is us’ is a new exhibition where you will meet hundreds of men and women from the global HIV community. We have sat at the kitchen table with them in more than 15 countries. This led to the dozens of photo documents films and written interviews that we present here. Together all these stories not only provide a unique picture of the history of HIV and AIDS but also show a clear picture of the HIV community in 2024.
The first AIDS patients were diagnosed in the early 1980’s. More than 40 years later the worldwide HIV community consists of 39 million people. Despite all the progress 12 million of them still do not have access to adequate HIV medication and 650000 people still die every year from the consequences of HIV and AIDS.
In many places the stigma of HIV still hurts…
By increasing our visibility and sharing our stories with as many people as possible the ATLAS projects want to contribute to combating stigmatization and discrimination.
The journey we have taken in recent years has been inspiring and offers hope for the future. Our community is a strong resilient community despite the great loss of loved ones.
Tough men strong women spirited teenagers brave trans people.
ATLAS2024 ‘This is us’ gives you the chance to see and hear them all.
Our eternal gratitude goes to all in our community who had the courage to participate in this special project. We wish you all good health and much understanding.
